Detour

Oops. I tripped and fell face first into another book before I made it to the Grimm Legacy. The book that broke my fall? M.K. Hobson's The Native Star. It's a steampunk, fantasy adventure that rollocks across the old west and ends up planting itself in New York. The characters are funny, engaging and exciting. The plot is smart, driven and wonderfully twisty. One of the best things about this book, in my opinion, is that the protagonists are loveable... and occasionally a bit deplorable. They aren't perfect and they do not pretend to be. They're human. They love, they need, they want and hurt, and that is something any reader will be able to identify with on some level. I absolutely cannot wait for the sequel, due out in (groan) May of 2011.
